Blinken: Leaks in Nord Stream Could Be Sabotage

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that the leaks in the Nord Stream pipeline were being investigated and that initial reports suggested they may have been the result of sabotage. “There have been reports that the leaks could have been an attack or some form of sabotage, but these are preliminary reports and we have not confirmed them yet,” Blinken said at a press conference with Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar in Washington. “But if these reports are confirmed, that is in nobody’s interest,” Blinken said. He noted that despite the unprecedented leaks, they would not have a serious impact on Europe’s energy resilience and that the US was working to ensure Europe’s short- and long-term energy security.
