US jobless claims beat expectations

The number of people applying for unemployment benefits for the first time in the United States increased by 245,000 in the week ending April 15, exceeding expectations. The U.S. Department of Labor announced data on weekly unemployment benefits applications. Accordingly, the number of people applying for unemployment benefits for the first time in the country increased by 5,000 in the week ending April 15 compared to the previous week, reaching 245,000. Applications for unemployment benefits, which exceeded market expectations, were expected to be 240,000 during this period. The previous week's data on unemployment benefits was revised from 239,000 to 240,000. As of last week, the four-week average number of unemployment benefits decreased by 500 compared to the previous week, falling to 239,750. Continuing unemployment claims also increased by 61,000 in the week ending April 8, reaching 1,865,000.
