Mitsotakis wins Greek elections

The winner of the general elections in Greece was the New Democracy Party led by Prime Minister Mitsotakis. The New Democracy Party, which received 40.5 percent of the vote, exceeded the 151 seats required to become a single-party government by winning 158 of the 300-seat parliament. The PASOK-KINAL alliance received 11.87 percent of the vote, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) 7.67 percent, the Greek Solution Party 4.45 percent, the Victory Party 3.71 percent, and the Freedom Trail Party 3.17 percent. The Spartans Party, supported by former Golden Dawn MP Ilias Kasidiaris, who was not allowed to participate in the election by the Greek courts, entered parliament with 4.69 percent of the vote. The Spartans Party won 12 seats in parliament. The New Democracy Party came first in all constituencies in the country except for one city in the Western Thrace region.
