Update talks for the Customs Union

The EU has made a statement regarding the update of the Customs Union agreement with Turkey. The European Union announced that they are discussing the update of the Customs Union agreement with Turkey. Speaking to Bloomberg on Tuesday, EU Customs Commissioner Paolo Gentiloni said, “There are difficult issues to be discussed in this context. Our teams will examine the issue after the summer and we will see if it is possible to make progress after the new signals from Turkey.” Gentiloni, who stated that he met with Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek twice, reported that he heard positive messages from Şimşek regarding both the economic plan and relations with the EU.
