Mexico's central bank keeps interest rates unchanged

The Mexican Central Bank (Banxico) did not change its policy rate for the third consecutive meeting, as expected. The Mexican Central Bank kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 11.25 percent on Thursday, in line with analysts' estimates. The bank emphasized that the inflation outlook remains "very complex" and suggested that the rate could remain stable for some time. The decision was taken unanimously by the central bank's five-member board of directors. Banxico had paused the process at its May meeting after raising interest rates in 14 consecutive meetings. Consumer prices in Mexico were announced as 4.79 percent in July.
