Growth in Japan exceeds expectations

Japan’s economy grew 6 percent in real terms in the April-June period of this year. Japan’s economy grew 6 percent annually in the three months ending in June. Economists had expected growth of 3.1 percent. Quarter-on-quarter growth was almost double the 0.8 percent forecast for the second quarter, at 1.5 percent. The data showed the fastest pace of growth since the fourth quarter of 2020, when Japan grew 2.8 percent quarter-on-quarter and 11.7 percent annually.
