Tokyo core inflation at 12-month low

Tokyo's core inflation rate came in at 2.8% in August, the lowest in 12 months. Tokyo's core inflation rate of 2.8% was below July's 3% and below economists' expectations of 2.9%. It was Tokyo's slowest growth in core inflation since September 2022. The core inflation rate excludes fresh food prices from the consumer price index. Tokyo's overall inflation rate came in at 2.9%, below July's 3.2%.
