Priority in transportation is high-speed train, domestic production in rail system
The 3-year road map for transportation investments has been determined. According to the Presidential Circular, priority will be given to high-speed train investments, while second line construction, signaling and electrification investments, and domestic production have been among the priority issues. According to the compilation from the Presidential Circular regarding the preparations for the 2024-2026 Period Investment Program, priority will be given to the high-speed train projects Mersin-Adana-Osmaniye-Gaziantep, Ankara-Afyonkarahisar-İzmir, Bandırma-Bursa-Yenişehir-Osmaneli, Halkalı-Kapıkule. Second line construction, signaling and electrification investments, construction of connection lines to important freight centers, projects to increase line capacity and efficiency, and domestic production of rail system vehicles will also be among the priority issues. Primary importance will be given to the completion of Filyos Port, Eastern Mediterranean Main Container Port, and Çandarlı Port. Investments in the construction of Ro-Ro ports in convenient locations will also be prioritized. Priority will be given to investments and projects aimed at minimizing the transaction, cost and bureaucratic processes at ports. Priority will also be given to projects that increase air navigation safety. In line with the needs of the priority sectors specified in the 11th Development Plan, investments that will eliminate traffic flow bottlenecks, develop the asset management system and ensure that traffic flow is maintained at the required service level, as well as investments in traffic safety on highways will be among the priority issues. In addition, bituminous hot mixture pavement (BSK) projects will be carried out on routes with an average daily heavy vehicle traffic of over 1000 vehicles. Importance will be given to bridge and viaduct repair projects Importance and priority will be given to highway and connection road projects in the completion phase and projects that will ensure the protection and efficient use of the existing highway system, and projects aimed at superstructure improvement, traffic safety, and repair of bridges and viaducts. The standards of existing and ongoing logistics centers, primarily in the Çukurova, Western Black Sea and Marmara regions, will be raised. New freight and logistics centers will be planned in railway corridors where demand is high. In order for Turkey to be more effective regionally in logistics, priority will be given to projects that will reduce logistics costs and transaction times and processes, ensure integrated operation of transportation modes, develop combined transportation practices, increase quality and safety in transportation planning, and the construction of logistics centers and bases, taking into account the results of the Turkey Transportation and Logistics Master Plan.
