New move from the EU regarding Chinese steel

According to the British Financial Times, the European Union (EU) plans to cooperate with the US to launch an anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese steelmakers. The European Union, which has recently taken steps regarding Chinese-origin products, is now preparing a new investigation into the steel sector. The British newspaper Financial Times reported, citing two officials with knowledge of the matter, that the EU plans to launch anti-subsidy investigations against Chinese steelmakers. The investigation is scheduled to be announced at a summit with the US this month. The EU had agreed to join the US in efforts to protect industries from cheap competition. The US asked the EU to take action against Chinese steelmakers in exchange for avoiding the reimposition of tariffs imposed on EU steel by former US President Donald Trump. At the meeting on October 20, the EU and the US are expected to announce a framework for sustainable steel and global aluminum regulation that prevents exports of Chinese metal. This agreement would also be open to other countries, including the UK and Japan, if they agree to impose tariffs on China.
