Uninterrupted access to Europe with the "Development Road Project"

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that with the Development Road Project, they will now provide uninterrupted transportation from Turkey to every country in Europe by road and rail from the FAV Port in Iraq to London. Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated in a written statement that following the meetings held in Iraq, discussions were held in Iraq regarding the Development Road Project. Minister Uraloğlu stated that within the scope of the meetings, a "Joint Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding on the Development Road Project" was signed between Turkey, Iraq, Qatar and the UAE. Noting that the Greater Fav Port in Iraq was designed as an important transit center with the project, Uraloğlu explained that they significantly reduced the travel time between Asia and Europe via Turkey. Minister Uraloğlu underlined that Turkey’s economic and geopolitical status will be further strengthened with the Development Road Project, which is described as the “new Silk Road,” and said, “With the Development Road Project, which we carry out based on the developing and growing trade volume in the world and Turkey’s strategic position, we will now provide uninterrupted transportation to every country in Europe from FAV Port to London by land and rail.” “It will open a new door in terms of regional trade” Stating that a ship departing from FAV Port and going to Europe would gain 15 days using the development road compared to the Suez Canal, Uraloğlu conveyed that this project will open a new door in terms of regional trade. Uraloğlu noted that the Development Road Project is not only cost-effective and short-distance, but also complementary to existing transportation corridors, and said, “Thus, it connects the corridors in the east-west direction to the north-south direction. The Development Road Project, which will directly contribute to the global trade system, will also contribute to the development and progress of all participating countries.” "We aim to create a globally significant trade corridor" Stating that technical delegations from the countries involved in the project meet at regular intervals, Uraloğlu noted the following: "The Development Road Project extends from the Persian Gulf to Turkey and Europe via land and railways. While connecting Iraq and Turkey, we aim to create a globally significant trade corridor. The project will also strengthen the economic and geopolitical status of our country and region."
