Lagarde: Eurozone far ahead in fight against inflation

The eurozone is “way ahead” in the fight against inflation, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said at the ECB’s annual Central Banking Forum. The eurozone is “way ahead” in the fight against inflation but there are “question marks” over the economic growth outlook. “We are in the slow recovery process that emerged in the first quarter and that we hope will continue, but all of this is full of uncertainty and big question marks about the future,” Lagarde said at the ECB’s annual Central Banking Forum. Stating that inflation in the eurozone is on the right path, Lagarde said, “We are closely monitoring the inflation components. The likelihood of a return to an environment of zero interest rates is very low.”
