Request for additional raise from Memur-Sen

Reminding that the increase in the minimum wage is an important reflection of the will shown to protect those with a fixed income, Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Yalçın said, "The first good news of 2023 should be the 'additional raise' to be given to our public servants in a way that continues the determined will in 2022." Memur-Sen Chairman Ali Yalçın demanded that civil servants be given a raise as much as the minimum wage increase. In a statement he made on his social media account, Yalçın reminded that the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced the December inflation rate as 1.18 percent and the annual inflation rate as 64.27 percent. Making a statement on his social media account, Yalçın reminded that, "The inflation difference is 7.84 percent and the rate that will be reflected in the salaries/wages of public officials/retirees with the 8 percent collective agreement increase has been determined as 16.47 percent," and expressed that a total of 87 percent increase was made to salaries and wages in order to protect public officials from the inflationary situation that emerged with the reflection of the global economic crisis in 2022. Stating that the increase made to the minimum wage in a way that will meet justified expectations is an important reflection of the will shown to protect those with fixed incomes, Yalçın said, "The market realities that justify the historical increase made in the minimum wage in terms of rate/amount are also valid for our public officials. The first good news of 2023 should be the 'additional raise' to be given to our public officials in a way that continues the determined will in 2022. With the power and stakeholdership of our state, the 'additional raise' to be made in addition to the 16.47 percent increase will relieve our public officials/retirees and will not be forgotten."
