Deferral of customs duty on iron and steel products

The effective date of the customs duties to be applied on iron and steel products has been postponed to early April. The implementation of the customs duty on flat-rolled products of alloyed or non-alloyed iron and steel, which was regulated by the Presidential decree published on January 28 and was planned to come into effect on February 28, has been postponed to April 1. According to the Presidential decree published in the Official Gazette dated February 26, the effective date of the customs duties on flat-rolled products of alloyed or non-alloyed iron and steel according to their country of origin has been changed to April 1. Within the scope of the Presidential decree dated January 28 on import regime, the customs duties on flat-rolled products of alloyed or non-alloyed iron and steel included in customs tariff statistical positions (GTİP) numbered 7208 and 7212 and GTİPs numbered 7225 and 7226 were regulated at rates ranging from 0 percent to 20 percent according to their country of origin. The customs duty rates regulated by the decision were targeted to enter into force on the 30th day following the publication of the decision. In the footnotes of the decision, it was decided that these customs duties would be applied as 13 percent and 15 percent for a temporary period for some production facilities and would be subject to end-use provisions.
