Asian markets rose

Stocks in the Asia-Pacific region started the week on a positive note. Shares in Asia-Pacific rose on Monday amid heightened risk sentiment. The Nikkei 225 rose 1.06 percent in afternoon trading in Japan, while the Topix index rose 0.66 percent. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 1.07 percent. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.5 percent. Markets in mainland China, Hong Kong and South Korea are closed for holidays.
