Speaking at the Opening Ceremony of Bandırma Eti Mine Boron Carbide Production Facility, President Erdoğan said, "Bandırma Boron Carbide Production Facility, with an investment cost of 80 million dollars, will be our country's first and one of the world's few facilities in this field." President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the Opening Ceremony of Bandırma Eti Mine Boron Carbide Production Facility. Erdoğan stated that Bandırma Boron Carbide Production Facility, with an investment cost of 80 million dollars, will be our country's first and one of the world's few facilities in this field. Important highlights from President Erdoğan's speech are as follows, -Boron carbide is also indispensable for the defense industry in application areas such as the production of armor-resistant mechanical parts. It is possible to see these products in many places from personnel vests to protective plates. -Boron is indispensable as a neutron arrester in nuclear facilities. Boron carbide makes a strategic contribution to our country. The losses caused by embargoes will be eliminated. -We will convert our 694 million tons of rare earth element reserves discovered in Eskişehir into profit with a facility that will process 1200 tons of ore annually. -We are determined to activate all the values of our country with a system that starts with raw materials and extends to the final product. -Turkey is in an advantageous position with both its logistic advantages and trained manpower capacity. The strong infrastructure we have brought to our country in every field from transportation to energy, from sports to social security provides the basis for this advantage. -Neither the natural disasters nor other obstacles we experience can distract us from our goals. It is a fact that we have gone through difficult tests in recent years. We have suffered for 2 years due to Covid-19. -While overcoming this difficulty, we were left among the ruins of the February 6 earthquake. Floods caused by excessive rainfall caused disaster after disaster in the earthquake region. May God have mercy on all our brothers who lost their lives. -We will erase the traces of the disaster. We will complete permanent housing within a year. From tent cities to container cities and on the one hand, we are concerned with not leaving our citizens out in the cold. 1000 tons of production per year According to the statement made by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, 1000 tons of boron carbide will be produced per year in the facility where 279 people will be employed when it operates at full capacity. Boron carbide, which is the third hardest substance after diamond and cubic boron, is used in many areas, especially in the defense industry.
