Google brings AI to cybersecurity

Google has announced its cybersecurity suite Cloud Security AI Workbench, powered by a proprietary “security” AI language model called Sec-PaLM. In March, Microsoft released Security Copilot, a new tool that aims to “summarize” and “make sense” of threat intelligence using generative AI models from OpenAI, including GPT-4. Another tech giant, Google, has announced its cybersecurity suite Cloud Security AI Workbench, powered by a proprietary “security” AI language model called Sec-PaLM. Cloud Security AI Workbench generates security intelligence on software vulnerabilities, malware, threat indicators, and behavioral threat actor profiles. “While generative AI has captured the imagination recently, Sec-PaLM is built on years of fundamental AI research from Google and DeepMind, and the deep expertise of our security teams. We are just beginning to realize the power of applying generative AI to security, and we look forward to continuing to leverage that expertise for our customers and drive advances across the security community,” the company said in a blog post. In a statement made by Microsoft regarding artificial intelligence-based cybersecurity systems in recent weeks, it was stated that productive artificial intelligence will make security experts better equipped to combat new threats.
