Denial of purchase claims from BOTAŞ and Gazprom

BOTAŞ denied claims in some press outlets that BOTAŞ would be taken over by the Russian oil and natural gas company Gazprom. The Russian energy company Gazprom also made a statement and stated that the claims that negotiations were being held to take over the management of BOTAŞ did not reflect the truth. In a statement made by BOTAŞ regarding the issue, it was stated that the claims that BOTAŞ, the leading public institution in Turkey’s energy sector, would be sold or transferred to any country or company, including Gazprom, had nothing to do with reality. The statement also included the following statements; “BOTAŞ, which continues its activities as a guarantor of our country’s energy supply security with its nearly half-century of experience and brings our country step by step closer to its goal of being an early country in energy with the giant projects and investments it has realized, is seen as a deliberate and planned action to bring such unfounded claims to the agenda. We respectfully present to the public that we reserve all our legal rights against these completely unfounded and completely unfounded claims that aim to create a speculative and negative impact on the energy sector.” Russian energy company Gazprom also made a statement, stating that the claims that negotiations were being held to take over the management of BOTAŞ did not reflect the truth. In a written statement made by Gazprom, the claims made in some press and publications in the Turkish media regarding Gazprom and BOTAŞ were denied.
