France warns Twitter

Jean-Noel Barrot, Minister of Digitalization and Telecommunications in France, announced that Twitter would be banned in the country if it evaded the rules. Barrot made a statement regarding Twitter's departure from the non-mandatory application rules prepared by the European Union (EU) to combat disinformation. Stating that Twitter would be banned in the country if it continued to ignore the rules, Barrot said, "Twitter plays an important role in public debate, but we do not take the risk that a social network like Twitter will allow disinformation supporters to take our public debates and democracy hostage and influence them." The French Minister pointed out that a framework should be determined for artificial intelligence programs such as ChatGPT within the scope of European legal regulations that restrict their areas of use. Barrot commented that such technologies should not be completely excluded by being subject to strict sanctions and made the assessment, "These artificial intelligence models are the subject of a crazy race in which we must not allow ourselves to be left behind." Barrot noted that Europe needs to invest in artificial intelligence programs.
