US new home sales miss expectations in June

New home sales in the US decreased by 2.5 percent on a monthly basis in June to 697 thousand, falling below expectations. The US Department of Commerce announced new home sales statistics for June. Accordingly, new home sales in the country decreased by 2.5 percent in June compared to the previous month, to 697 thousand, adjusted for seasonally adjusted effects. New home sales, which fell short of market expectations, were expected to be 725 thousand in this period. New home sales increased by 6.6 percent in May to 715 thousand. New home sales in the country increased by 23.8 percent in June compared to the same period of the previous year. The median sales price of new homes for sale in the US last month decreased by approximately 4 percent compared to the previous year, falling to $415,400.
