US Treasury raises borrowing forecast

The U.S. Treasury Department has raised its borrowing estimate for the third quarter of this year to $1.07 trillion. The U.S. Treasury Department announced its borrowing estimates for the July-September and October-December periods of this year. The statement said that the Treasury is expected to borrow $1.07 trillion in the third quarter of this year. The statement reported that the cash balance at the end of September is estimated to be $650 billion, and that the borrowing estimate is $274 billion more than the estimate announced in May. The statement reported that the Treasury is expected to borrow $852 billion in the October-December period and that its cash balance at the end of December is expected to be $750 billion. The statement noted that the Treasury borrowed $657 billion in the April-June period, and that the cash balance at the end of the quarter was $402 billion. In its estimate shared in May, the Ministry announced that the Treasury was expected to borrow $726 billion in the first quarter of the year and that the cash balance at the end of June was expected to be $550 billion.
