Erdogan: Russia cannot be excluded from grain issue

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements following the end of the G20 Leaders Summit. Stating that the Russia-Ukraine War should end, President Erdoğan said, "Russia cannot be excluded on the grain issue." Stating that he had a brief meeting with US President Biden within the scope of the summit, Erdoğan said, "We discussed the F-16 issue, they are putting Sweden forward, the decision on this issue is in the Turkish Grand National Assembly." Speaking about relations with the EU, Erdoğan said, "They are stalling today as they have been stalling for 50 years." On the other hand, on the last day of the summit, President Erdoğan met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, EU Council President Charles Michel and Indian Prime Minister Modi. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, "We are taking important steps in both renewable energy and nuclear and hydrogen investments. We are 5th in Europe and 12th in the world in terms of renewable installed capacity. The steps we have taken in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy have prevented 90 million tons of carbon equivalent greenhouse gas emissions annually." Speaking at the press conference held after the end of the 18th G20 Leaders Summit held in New Delhi, the capital of India, Erdoğan wished God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives in the earthquake in Morocco and a speedy recovery to the injured. Expressing that he wished all the Moroccan people a “get well soon” on behalf of his country and nation, Erdoğan said, “As a country that experienced the disaster of the century just 6 months ago, we are ready to help our Moroccan brothers with all our means. We have concluded the 18th G20 Leaders Summit hosted by India. On this occasion, I congratulate India, which successfully fulfilled its presidency, on behalf of myself and my nation. I am grateful to everyone who contributed, especially Prime Minister Mr. Modi, for the hospitality they showed me, my wife and my delegation.” Reminding that the theme of this year’s summit was “One World, One Family and One Future,” Erdoğan stated that they discussed the environmental problems facing the planet in the first of the summit sessions. Erdoğan, explaining that the effects of climate change, loss of biodiversity and the triple planet crisis are being felt more, said that they have seen the devastating results of this in a wide range from forest fires to floods, drought to warming. "We are taking important steps in nuclear and hydrogen investments" Drawing attention to the fact that Turkey's responsibility in greenhouse gas emissions is quite low, Erdoğan emphasized that despite this, as Turkey, they are taking on responsibility in this vital issue that concerns the common future of the world and humanity. President Erdoğan stated that they are among the countries that have made the most meaningful contribution to the Paris Climate Agreement with the ‘2053 net zero emission’ and ‘green development’ targets, and noted the following: “We are taking important steps in both renewable energy and nuclear and hydrogen investments. We are 5th in Europe and 12th in the world in terms of renewable installed power. The steps we have taken in the fields of energy efficiency and renewable energy have prevented 90 million tons of carbon equivalent greenhouse gas emissions annually. We have doubled our emission reduction target until 2030 in line with our ‘2053 net zero emission’ target. We are one of the leading countries in the world in combating desertification and erosion. We are working for a greener, cleaner, more livable Turkey and world with the projects we have implemented in a wide area.” President Erdoğan explained that the Zero Waste Project, implemented under the leadership of his wife Emine Erdoğan, was a turning point in this process, and said that the project, carried out with the slogan “The World is Our Common Home,” was deemed worthy of 5 international awards, 3 of which came from United Nations offices and programs. “We drew attention to the increase in financing and technology transfer to developing countries” Stating that the Zero Waste Project had become a global movement with the decision of the United Nations General Assembly, Erdoğan said, “With this decision, March 30 was declared as ‘International Zero Waste Day’. Thanks to our proposal, attention was drawn to the importance of zero waste initiatives in the G20 declaration. In the first session of the summit, we emphasized the importance of fair burden sharing between developed and developing countries. We also drew attention to the importance of increasing financing and technology transfer to developing countries.” Expressing that they would continue to work for the protection of the world in the future, Erdoğan said, “In the second session titled One Family, we conveyed our efforts to ensure that no one is left behind and to strengthen global solidarity based on this. We expressed what needs to be done for the voluntary, safe and honorable return of refugees and displaced persons to their countries.”
