G-20 leaders will meet in Bali, Indonesia on November 15-16. US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping are scheduled to meet before the summit begins. It is stated that the main agenda item of the meeting between the two leaders will be Taiwan. As the global public attention turns to the G-20 summit to be held in Indonesia on November 15-16, the face-to-face meeting between the US and Chinese leaders will be closely monitored before the summit. The meeting between US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to take place at 1:30 p.m. Turkish time. Biden will meet his Chinese counterpart face-to-face for the first time since assuming office as US president. Regarding the meeting, Biden said, “I know him well, he knows me. We need to determine our red lines and the things that are most important to us.” Before going to Indonesia, Biden stated that they would discuss the Taiwan crisis, unfair trade competition, and China’s relations with other countries, especially Russia, while White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan announced that global and regional issues would be discussed at the meeting. Sullivan added that the door to dialogue would be open and that the intention to work together in areas where common interests overlap would be revealed. It is expected that common areas of work will include health, climate change, and the fight against drugs. Sullivan also stated that President Biden sees the US and China in serious competition, but that he attaches importance to the fact that this competition should not turn into conflict and that it should be managed responsibly.
