The world continues with Demirkent's principles

Dünya Super Web Ofset Inc. denied the claims that the Dünya newspaper was closed, and emphasized that the Dünya newspaper continues on its path with the principles of its founder Nezih Demirkent. Dünya Super Web Ofset Inc. denied the claims that the Dünya newspaper was closed, and stated that Dünya’s publication life was not over and continued on its path. The following statement was made on the subject; “To the information of the public, the 'brand lease agreement' signed in 2019 with NBE Medya Yayın Basın A.Ş. for our privileged brands Dünya Newspaper, Dünya Ekonomi Politika, www.dunya.com, Dünya Executive, Dünya Kitap, Dünya Tekno and İhracatın Yıldızları has expired as of 18.11.2022. Our institution, which is waiting for the contract period to expire within the framework of the ethical values that the founder of the brand, Mr. Nezih Demirkent, has observed throughout his life and career, is proud to announce to the public that accurate and impartial journalism will continue to live under the roof of “Dünya” and that Dünya Newspaper will continue its publication life uninterruptedly as always with its own staff with a stronger, more original and objective journalism approach. Dünya Newspaper's publication life has not ended, Dünya continues on its way It has become necessary to convey the 'truth' and enlighten the public in the face of deliberately created, untrue publications and news about the continuity of the Dünya brand. While the brand's publication is continued by NBE, the campaign, which was launched with the phrase 'transforming' placed under the original logo of the newspaper as of 15.11.2022, was continued with the news that 'Dünya brand's publication life has ended' deliberately in the following days. Our brand has been faced with unjust acts that are contrary to the truth, deliberately misleading the public, and directly attacking the Dünya brand through publication, such as “Dünya employees have said goodbye”, “Dünya Newspaper has become a publication called NBE”. Our legal rights are reserved and necessary actions will be taken regarding all other publications and announcements that are published without allowing the right to reply, without receiving our opinion and information, without investigating the reality of these publications and news, and that support the perception of discrediting and destroying the Dünya brand, without being allowed to use these acts that are completely contrary to the truth, far from objective criteria, and clearly damaging the reputation of the brand. The aim is to devalue the brand. The permanent employees of NBE A.Ş., which leased the Dünya brand, are reflected as “Dünya employees”, while the Dünya brand exists with all its power, the news such as “Dünya brand is turning into NBE”, “Dünya is making its last broadcast” are aimed at creating the perception in the public that the Dünya brand has completely disappeared and closed down, and are an effort to devalue the brand, damage its reputation and clearly unfairly invade the legacy of the 42-year-old brand. It is extremely unfortunate and the only example of its kind that this institution, which deliberately harms the rights of that brand through the brand it leased in the Turkish economic press, continues to use its media power to publish and announce publications that will directly damage the commercial reputation of a Turkish brand. The Turkish economic press is undoubtedly on a mission to convey news about the business world and the world economy to the public with objective criteria within the scope of our Constitution and all legal regulations related to the Press Law. It is the public’s judgment that this mission will unfortunately be seriously damaged by attempts to directly humiliate and destroy a Turkish brand in the public eye, and to ignore those who have worked for this brand for years. Information and news indicating that the concessionaire is causing difficulties do not reflect the truth. None of the statements made in various publications to the public that ‘the brand owner is asking for exorbitant rents’, ‘has demands that will make the agreement impossible’, ‘wants his own name to be written as the concessionaire’, ‘creates difficulties in order not to realize the brand lease agreement’ reflect the truth. None of those who made these publications or published them confirmed the reality of the issue with us, did not give us the opportunity to exercise the right of reply, and did not fulfill the “criterion of being objective”, which is the basis of freedom to receive/provide news in the press. Ms. Didem Demirkent, who made many sacrifices in 2019 for the brand to survive and the newspaper to survive, displayed a constructive, solution-generating approach during the contract renewal negotiations, and remained silent by maintaining her objective line and negotiation ethics. The claims that the contract was not specifically renewed by Dünya Super Web Ofset Inc. are completely untrue. NBE is the party that made a sudden turnaround at the last stage of the negotiations when the agreement was almost complete and verbally stated that it would not agree. The document we received today clearly shows that NBE made the official notification that the contract was terminated first and that the real purpose is to unfairly obtain the “Dünya” brand that it is trying to discredit.
