One of the ships carrying grain from Ukraine arrived in Italy

Following the grain corridor agreement signed in Istanbul between Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations (UN) on July 22, the first grain-laden ships setting off from Ukraine have begun to arrive at their destination ports. The ship named ‘Rojen’, which reached the Port of Ravenna, became the first ship to reach Italy following the grain corridor agreement. The Malta-flagged ship named ‘Rojen’, which set off from Ukraine and loaded with approximately 13 thousand tons of corn, reached its destination, the Port of Ravenna in Italy. The Malta-flagged ship, which departed from the Port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine on August 5, arrived at the Port of Ravenna on the Adriatic Sea of Italy late at night, after a slight delay due to adverse weather conditions. After the ship docked at the port, the Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) teams of the Italian Customs Agency took some samples of the corn in the cargo hold to determine if there was any chemical threat or radiation in the corn brought by the ship. It was learned that the cargo on the ship would be unloaded following the test results to be conducted on the samples. It was reported that the ship was carrying around 13,000 tons of corn, most of which is used as animal feed. According to Italian media reports, the unloading of the ship will take until August 16. Meanwhile, the ship in question was the first to reach Italy after the grain corridor agreement. Other ships carrying soybeans and crude sunflower oil from Ukraine are expected to reach Italy in the coming days.
