"Türkiye will issue its first green Eurobond in January"

Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Murat Zaman stated that Turkey will make its first green Eurobond issuance in January. Turkey is preparing for the first step in green borrowing, which has been on the agenda for a long time. Speaking at the meeting of the Corporate Governance Association of Turkey (TKYD), Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Murat Zaman said that Turkey's first green Eurobond issuance will be made in January. The Ministry of Treasury and Finance announced in November 2021 that ING and Standard Chartered Bank were authorized to prepare and publish a "Sustainable Financing Framework Document" for the purpose of carrying out borrowing transactions in the international "Environmental, Social and Governance" bond market and that the preparations for this document were completed. It was stated that the framework document in question was intended to be used in borrowing transactions such as green, social or sustainable bonds or lease certificates that can be carried out by the Ministry in international capital markets. In his speech, Zaman said that they had studies on the capital market, that these studies had not yet been completed due to the intensity of the TBMM agenda, and that they would bring the steps to the parliament in January to strengthen the capital markets.
