Short selling temporarily banned on stock exchange

Borsa Istanbul has announced a series of measures, including a temporary ban on short selling transactions. Borsa Istanbul has taken some temporary measures regarding short selling transactions Accordingly, it was decided to temporarily ban short selling transactions as of February 6, and to inform investors and investment institutions that positions made during the day without pressing the short selling button and closed on the same day are also within the scope of the said ban. According to the new measures, it was decided that a deposit requirement will be applied to the shares to be sold by investors and that investors who own shares will be able to sell the said securities only through investment institutions that hold the relevant securities.
