Bubble crisis grows

After the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) shot down unidentified objects over Alaska and Canada with a Chinese balloon, it has now taken action against an unidentified object flying over the US-Canadian border. The balloon crisis between the US and China is growing. US forces have shot down three flying objects in North America in a matter of days. The objects flying over Alaska and Canada on Friday and Saturday, and over Lake Huron in Michigan on Sunday, were shot down by US jets. The object shot down in Huron was reported to be flying near some critical military facilities. Although the White House stated that it was too early to determine what the downed objects were, US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said that the objects were believed to be high-altitude balloons. Local Chinese media reported that the air force was preparing to shoot down an object it detected in the airspace in the Qingdao region. According to the Financial Times, Taiwanese authorities reported that Chinese balloons have been seen frequently in their airspace in recent years. Taiwanese authorities believe that the Chinese balloons are gathering information for a possible attack. One official said a balloon is thought to fly for this purpose at least once a month.
