President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted the following: "We will continue our fight against climate change and environmental pollution crises in a multidimensional manner. As Turkey, we are seeking to properly fulfill our duties towards future generations. Our goal in 2053 is to reach net zero emissions. We will achieve this, God willing, as we do with our other goals. From here, I call on everyone, especially the countries with a great historical responsibility for global warming, to take action. I hope that our Global Zero Waste Goodwill Declaration will be beneficial. I wholeheartedly congratulate those who have contributed to the process coming this far." Goodwill Declaration The Global Zero Waste Goodwill Declaration includes the following statements: "We are committed to implementing sustainable waste management practices, recognizing that in order to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, it is necessary to promote, prevent, reduce, recycle and reuse the efficient use of limited resources and to reduce and eliminate waste generation, recognizing the strong relationship between sustainable waste management, resource efficiency and climate change. We are committed to promoting the zero waste approach worldwide and sharing best practices for its wider recognition and implementation. We are also committed to supporting initiatives, campaigns, programs, projects and activities that support zero waste in order to promote responsible waste production and consumption. We are committed to sharing best practices and lessons learned from projects such as Turkey's Zero Waste Project and encouraging the development of similar policies on waste management. We call on UN Member States, UN System organizations, civil society, the private sector, the media and local governments to align strategies, approaches and programs that will help accelerate the global transition to a circular economy and reduce the negative impact of waste on climate change." The Global Zero Waste Goodwill Declaration, which was opened for signature on the website today, is of great importance in terms of providing individual supporters at the global level for this important work.
